OCCUPATION

My main job is commentating on darts for Sky Sports. But I have also commentated on American pool, ten-pin bowling and even domino toppling. I also write books. My latest project is a personalised look at the personalities in professional darts that will be published by Ebury Press next summer.

I also frequently appear on TV and in the press as a soccer fan/pundit. I am currently a member of the ITV World Cuppa panel.

ABOUT ME

I would describe myself a highly enthusiastic darts commentator. But other descriptions have been used: ‘the only man who makes Eddie Waring sound posh’ (1979); ‘a bloke who screams like a banshee with piles’ (1983); ‘probably the best commentator on any sport in the world’ (2006).

I saw the potential for darts on TV as early as April 1972 and I reckon I have done my bit as TV producer and commentator to make the sport popular world wide. In mid-July the World Series of Darts starts on ESPN in the USA and could pull 50 million viewers with me doing the verbals. Not bad for a sport that started with 100,000 viewers in the Yorkshire TV area when it was showcased on the Indoor League.
