Ladies World Champion Anastasia Dobromyslova has put pen to paper on a new contract with Unicorn.
The new deal means that she will be staying with the world’s leading darts manufacturer until at least 2015.
“I am delighted,” she said. “Everyone at Unicorn has been brilliant with me and so supportive through the tough times.”
“I can’t thank them enough and it took less than a second to agree to stay!”
Ana’s second World Championship at the Lakeside in January was the greatest achievement of her career when she came from a set down to beat Deta Hedman.
And she has had to endure the politics after her switch back to the British Darts Organisation.
“I have always said I am not bothered by what people say. I just want to enjoy my darts, win tournaments and win a third World Championship and with Unicorn’s help, hopefully I can continue to achieve.”
Her form since that famous Lakeside triumph has been patchy – “too many missed doubles,” she said. “But I know it will all come together again soon.”
The news of the new contract coincides with the launch of Unicorn’s impressive 2013 catalogue.
And Unicorn Managing Director Edward Lowy is delighted: “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with double World Champion Ana. Ladies Darts doesn’t get its fair share of prize money, publicity or acclaim – so who better to advocate the skills of the ladies than the sensational Ana”
Mr Lowy added: “He 2nd World title was well deserved and well won against, it has to be said, some institutional bias. All credit to Ana for getting on with the job with tremendous skill, focus and professionalism.”
“We were delighted for her then and we look forward to seeing Ana secure many more victories in the months and years ahead with Unicorn. She is a breath of fresh air to work with and incredibly good at what she does. Well done Anna – here’s to more years!
Anastasia’s next target is the English Open later this month.
