O2 agony for Anderson....and Wright!

Gary Anderson will wonder what might have been after a dramatic Premier League Finals night in London.

The Unicorn star was beaten 10-7 by Michael van Gerwen in a thrilling semi-final which could have gone either way.

And Van Gerwen went on to win the Premier League for a third time in the most dramatic ever final at the O2.

He beat Peter Wright 11-10, coming back from 2-7 down to win in a deciding leg. But Wright will never have a better chance of lifting another TV 'Major' as amazingly he missed SIX darts at D16 and D8 to win the final 11-9.

And for Gary, so near but yet so far.

"I gave it my all but it wasn't quite good enough. We both missed chances but I always felt that I was in the match. It's been a good Premier League season for me and I will be back for more next year!" Anderson said.

Gary found himself 1-3 down but should have been 3-1 up after twice missing 'tops'....and that after he won the opening leg with a 12 darter. He then clawed his way back after the Dutchman had chances to go 4-1 and 5-3 in front. It was that sort of game!

Anderson was hitting 180s for fun and also nailed a superb 160 finish to make it five apiece. Ten straight legs were won on throw. Crucially the Scot wired the bull for a 121 finish to go 8-7 up with a break.

And he was punished as Van Gerwen took out 88 to break Anderson in the 16th leg before closing out the semi-final. The Unicorn man hit seven 180s and averaged nearly 103 but it wasn't quite enough.
