World Cup glory for Barney and Holland!

There was Dutch delight in Hamburg as Unicorn star Raymond van Barneveld and Michael van Gerwen teamed up to win the World Cup in brilliant style.

The Netherlands duo beat England 3-0 in a one-sided final on Sunday night. The stand out team with a stand out performance and Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis had no answers.

"It means so much to me to win the World Cup for a second time," he said. "Michael and I formed a great partnership."

"And it is extra special for me to win the World Cup again so soon after winning the Premier League. But we are both very proud to do this for our country."

On the day Barney and Van Gerwen were just too good. To put their dominance into perspective, they won an amazing 17 straight legs at one stage in Hamburg.

Holland beat Belgium in the last eight, Northern Ireland in the semi-finals and then accounted for England in style.

That golden run started with Barneveld's 4-0 win over Northern Ireland's Mickey Mansell....then came a record breaking 4-0 win in the doubles.

Van Gerwen started the World Cup Final by thrashing Taylor 4-0 and Barney followed suit against Lewis!

In the third singles clash in the final, Lewis finally stopped the Dutch charge but he couldn't stop Van Gerwen completing a 4-2 victory with a 94 finish on D6 and the Netherlands were crowned World Champions.

In the semi-finals against Northern Ireland, it was the Unicorn man who kept the Dutch in the contest. He beat Mickey Mansell 4-0 after Van Gerwen had lost to Brendan Dolan.

And in the doubles decider Barney and Van Gerwen produced an astonishing display....an average of 117.88 - a World record in a televised pairs match!

Holland.....worthy winners!

The end of the World Cup road for the Huybrechts brothers came in the quarter-finals as they went down to Barney and the Dutch.

But Kim produced a sparkling performance to beat Van Gerwen.....Ronny lost his singles match to Barneveld and Holland were convincing 4-0 winners on the deciding doubles.

Kim averaged 107, had an 80% check-out success rate and nailed a 160 finish in his 4-2 success over Van Gerwen.....Kim was 0-2 down! Barney was just in irresistible form in beating Huybrechts Snr 4-2 and the Dutch raced through the deciding doubles.

Nevertheless another good showing from the Team Unicorn brothers.

And Devon Petersen's brave bid was ended at the same stage by England, but not before the Unicorn man had come close to beating Phil Taylor.

South Africa lost both singles matches but Petersen again took centre stage.....incredibly all seven legs were won against the throw. Every time Devon was broken, he hit straight back.

And he had the darts in the decider, kicking off with a 140 but a 177 from Taylor tipped the scales England's way.....Adrian Lewis then beat Graham Filby to win the tie.

But Devon has made another huge impression and hopefully we will see him win the South African World Championship qualifier to get him back to the Alexandra Palace in December.

A real showman and a real talent.....Devon Petersen.

But the World Cup spoils to Holland and deservedly so.
