During a recent trip to the Andover Academy, which Unicorn has now supported for around 6 years, Unicorn MD Edward Lowy presented a cheque for £454 to the Jamie G Sporting Trust.
Jamie Gentleman was a dart player at the Andover Academy, who tragically died suddenly just before his 14th birthday.
“He was a delightful young man who I met on various occasions,” says Edward Lowy.
“His parents, Jacqui and Ivan, set up a Trust to remember Jamie by and they raise funds for Junior Sport in the Andover Community.
“We were donating money from the sale of Andover Academy Generation 180 Graduates darts, namely Jamie Kelling, Arron Monk, Sean White, Dan Read and Gary Thorne.”
The Trust has now raised over £75,000 and is a tribute not only to Jamie’s family, parents Ivan and Jacqui and brother Tommy, but also the whole of the Unicorn Andover Darts Academy, run so well by Glen Dawkins, which came together as the greater family of darts always does in times of tragedy, to support the memory of one of its own in such a positive way.
More news about an exciting new signing to Team Unicorn’s Generation 180 from the Andover Academy will follow shortly.
