Arron Monk just missed out on what would have been a 4th PDC Unicorn Youth Tour victory of the year at the weekend.
The Team Unicorn ace – who is sitting proudly at the top of the Youth Tour Order of Merit – was edged out for the big prize on Sunday in Cologne.
Monk lost a thrilling final to Jamie Lewis.
The match went all the way to a deciding leg, which Lewis took to claim his first win on the PDC Unicorn Youth Tour.
Monk had looked in good touch all day as he beat James Hubbard (4-3), Josh Jones (4-0), Reece Robinson (4-0) and Josh Payne (4-1), so will be very disappointed that he didn’t finish the job in the final.
In Saturday’s two tournaments, Monk lost to Josh Payne by 4 legs to 1 in the semi-finals and then was beaten 4-0 by Lewis in the quarter-finals.
Saturday’s two events were won by Adam Smith-Neale, who beat Payne 4-2 and by Chris Aubrey, who was a 4-3 winner over Lewis.
Keegan Brown – newly promoted to the Contender category at Team Unicorn – lost in the last 16 in all three tournaments in Germany.
Brown was beaten 4-3 and 4-2 by Aubrey in both Saturday’s events and was a 4-3 loser to Matthew Dennant on Sunday.
The next three PDC Unicorn Youth Tour events will be held over the weekend of July 14/15 in Barnsley.
