Anderson and Cullen star in Vienna!

Gary Anderson continued his rehabilitation as he moved effortlessly into the last 16 of the Austrian Darts Trophy.

But Joe Cullen stole the show again, as the Unicorn star beat Simon Whitlock 6-4 in Vienna.

“It must be one of the best wins of my career,” said Cullen, who watched the Australian hit a 9-darter – the second of the weekend after Michael Smith’s perfect leg on Friday.

Cullen will now face Mark Walsh for a place in the quarter-finals after his 6-4 win over Whitlock with an impressive 94 average.

“I have to keep focused now because I am playing well at the moment,” he added.

Anderson averaged 97 as he swept past Co Stompe 6-2.....and it is all certainly pointing in the right direction for the Scot....he produced that terrific fightback to draw with Adrian Lewis in the Premier League, then came from 1-3 down to beat Scott Rand in the 1st Round in Austria with 150 and 130 finishes!

He now plays good friend Justin Pipe for a place in the last eight.

The all Unicorn 2nd Round clash saw Raymond van Barneveld beat Colin Osborne 6-4 and the Dutchman takes on Mark Webster in round three.

James Wade looked good in beating Steve Beaton 6-4 and he will now play in-form Belgian Kim Huybrechts, while Kevin Painter’s impressive 6-2 victory over Mark Dudbridge gives ‘The Artist’ a 3rd Round date with Dave Chisnall, who saw off Andy Hamilton.

Hamilton will be disappointed because he was 3-1 in front, before Chisnall took five of the next six legs.

Wes Newton looked comfortable as he hit five 180s in beating Welshman Steve Evans 6-2.....he will now play Denis Ovens, who was a 6-3 winner over Terry Jenkins.

The other highlight of day two was Michael van Gerwen’s average of 104.70 in his 6-1 demolition of Colin Lloyd.

Selected 2nd Round results:

WES NEWTON 6-2 Steve Evans
Denis Ovens 6-3 TERRY JENKINS
