So near but yet so far for Anastasia!

Anastasia Dobromyslova missed out on the big prizes at the Isle of Man Darts Festival, but Team Unicorn’s former World Champion is edging ever closer to her top form.

Ana lost in the semi-finals of the Isle of Man Open at the weekend, while she and Unicorn partner Irina Armstrong were pipped in the final of the Ladies Pairs event.

The Russian paid the price for missed doubles…..she looked to be on course for a showdown with Deta Hedman in the final of the Ladies Singles, but lost out to Lisa Ashton in a closely fought semi-final.

After winning the opening leg, Anastasia then missed darts for a crucial 2-1 advantage and missed three more at D16 to send the match into a decider, as Ashton nailed D10 for a 3-1 victory.

Ana and Irina were beaten in the final of the Ladies Pairs by Ashton and Trina Gulliver….Irina’s interest in the singles event was ended at the last 32 stage.

But for Anastasia, it is another step towards achieving her goal of qualifying for the World Masters and the Lakeside World Championship in her first year back in the BDO.

For the record, the Isle of Man singles titles were won by Ted Hankey and Deta Hedman.
