Monk kicks off Unicorn Youth Tour

Unicorn Under 21 World Champion is featured in a full field of 128 players in the first tournament on the new PDC Unicorn Youth Tour.

The PDC will hold 15 separate events for players aged 14-21 this year, which will be followed by the World Youth Championship.

The first of the 15 events, each worth £2,000, will be played at the Moorways Centre in Derby on Satuday February 19, beginning at 5pm.

In line with UK-based Players Championships, the tournaments will feature a maximum of 128 players - with that total already reached for the Derby event.

Almost 100 players have already entered the second tournament, which will be held at the Barnsley Metrodome on Saturday February 26.

"This is tremendous news and we're delighted to have seen such a response from young players from both the UK and Europe since announcing the PDC Unicorn Youth Tour last month," said PDC Director Rod Harrington.

"These youngsters will be the future of our sport, and it will be great to see so many of them taking this first step on the professional ladder this year."

Entry to the event in Barnsley will cost £25 per player. Players must call the PDC Head Office on 08712 501 180 to make their entry and receive an entry number to confirm their entry, with payment to be made in person when registering at the event before 4pm on that respective day.

Entry will be open from 9am-5pm on Monday-Friday, and entries for the Barnsley event will close at 5pm on Friday February 25 or when the field of 128 is reached.

Entry information for other events will be announced in due course.

All games will be played under DRA rules. Players must be aged 14 or above, and 21 and under on January 3 2011 to be eligible to play in the PDC Unicorn Youth Tour events.
