All wrong for Wright

There was huge disappointment for Unicorn’s Tricia Wright, as she was edged out by American Stacy Bromberg in the first ever PDC Unicorn Women’s World Championship Final.

Tricia lost a dramatic last leg decider after missing four darts to be crowned World Champion.

“Obviously it is a blow,” she said. “I had my chances and didn’t take them, so well done to Stacy. I really enjoyed the whole experience and I will keep trying to win the world title.”

After a nervy start, Tricia hit a couple of 140s and took out 64 and 78 to move 4-2 and then 5-3 in front.

But the American refused to give in as both girls chased the biggest prize in the women’s game.

Bromberg held throw to make it 5-4 but then came Tricia’s big moment.

She missed four darts at ‘tops’ D10 and D5 to win the final 6-4 and Bromberg managed to level to set up that last leg decider.

The Unicorn ace just couldn’t find her range and Bromberg nailed D8 for the title.

Tricia’s consolation is £5,000 – a place at the Grand Slam of Darts and a guaranteed Tour Card to the 2011 PDC tour but it was the big prize she really wanted and she will rue those missed darts in that 10th leg.

Result:

Stacy Bromberg 6-5 Tricia Wright

Winner - £10,000
Runner-up - £5,000
