Double Monk!

What a weekend for Arron Monk!

The Team Unicorn star completed a second victory in 24 hours and a second win in the opening three PDC Unicorn Youth Tour events in Derby on Sunday.

He beat Michael Smith 4-0 in the final on a day when he lost only 8 legs of darts in seven matches....it was another terrific performance from the young man.

Smith of course, won the second Youth tournament on Saturday, but he was no match for Monk who was hitting 180s and 140s for fun.

“It has been a great weekend,” Monk said.

“I had had a rough few months, but this is brilliant because I have new darts, a new throw and a new confidence and more than anything a new belief that I can kick on from here and take my career to the next level.”

Monk beat Co Stompe jnr (4-0), Aaron Bateman (4-0), Jake Patchett (4-3), Jamie Lewis (4-2) and Steve Haggerty (4-2) on his way to the semi-finals.

A 4-1 victory over Sam Hill was followed by that impressive whitewash of the highly-rated Smith in the final.....

Monk beat James Hubbard in the final of the first tournament on Saturday and pocketed just over £1,000 from the weekend in Derby.

And it will put him in good spirits of next week’s big extravaganza in Austria with the first new European Tour event when Monk takes on Raymond van Barneveld in the 1st Round.

The next three PDC Unicorn Youth tournaments will be played in Reading over the weekend of May 19 and 20.

The other Team Unicorn youngster taking part was Dan Read who won his first game against Ryan Herrington 4-1, but then lost a last leg decider in the 2nd Round to Liam Stephen-Showell.
