ARRON MONK DROPPED FOR POLITICAL REASONS

Posted by Glen Dawkins at 18:00 on 24th March 2008 in UniBlog

It is with great sadness we have learned that Arron Monk will not be representing England against the Rest of Europe this weekend at Lakeside.

His crime is that he satisfies his craving for darts by playing both BDO and PDC and for that he has become a BDO pariah.

Here in Andover we welcome both BDO and PDC affiliates along with those of no political persuasion.
Indeed at the Unicorn Darts Youth Academy we teach our youngsters not to become embroiled in the political nonsense that is dividing our game just to go out and enjoy playing where ever and against who ever.

As our game struggles to gain recognition as an Olympic sport we wonder what impression this would make on the I.O.C. and its deliberations.

As for Arron, we here in Andover are extremely proud of what he has achieved in such a short space of time and are convinced that he will eventually achieve his ambition of becoming a professional darts player despite the BDO and not because of them.

G''Day Glen mate.. what a shame! it is always there but when it raises its ugly head it can be cruel (darts in politics).. why can they just "get over it"?

Have things sunk so low that this squabble has to now crush a kids dreams? In my 28 years in the game, I thought I had heard it all. How truly sad.
