YOUNG GUNS GO FOR BIG PRIZE

Posted by Unicorn at 10:00 on 12th November 2008 in Unicorn Darts News

It could be a life changing experience for three Team Unicorn youngsters – with a little help from the master himself!

New Kids on the Oche is a brand new PDC event giving eight youngsters, who are all starting off on their darts careers, the chance of a lifetime.

The tournament is also a Taylor Masterclass, with the 13 times World Champion giving the kids the benefit of his vast experience, advice and special darting tutorials.

And for the Unicorn trio of Ricky Williams, Joe Cullen and Jamie Kelling – it could just be the defining moment, as they bid to break into the darting big-time.

The brainchild of PDC Chairman Barry Hearn, the winner of New Kids on the Oche will get all their entry fees into all 2009 Pro Tour events paid for – a prize worth £4,000 – through the PDCs fledgling partnership with NUTS TV

The event is being played at Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex – the same venue which hosted the first ever Championship League Darts - won by Taylor last month.

The results will be revealed in December when NUTS TV screens three special one-hour programmes.

Cullen, Williams and Kelling will be featured alongside other top PDC youngsters – Michael Smith, Matt Gallett, Arron Monk, Tom Martin and Darren Whittingham.

The players split into two groups of four, with the top two in each group progressi ng to the semi-finals.

Taylor said: “It is a great idea and I am looking forward to having a close look at the future of darts.”

‘The Power’ will feature heavily in the three programmes on NUTS TV and will also be co-commentating on the tournament alongside Stuart Pyke.

He added: “There is a lot of talent out there and these days, the players are starting their career at a very young age.”

Watch out for the listings on NUTS TV next month to follow all the action and the progress of the Unicorn trio
