Well as uniBlog readers are aware I have a major handicap in regards to my throwing hand, which was caused by me not listening to my father 44 years ago (yes you are right dad).
So it has come to this… after playing all these years and now after a “debate” with the wife I get to go and play where I like (when I can) which is great because its something I missed in my younger days! Also when I have the likes of Simon Whitlock staying at my house during tournaments it has got the “flame” ignited once again which has given me renewed confidence as well as now having the right equipment to use (thanks Edward).
So all is going well but alas it’s not meant to last! I had a doctor’s appointment and got referred to a top hand specialist here in Sydney who I have to see in three days time for my initial consultation about reconstruction of my hand.
I must say I am not looking forward to it (memories of the past), yet on the other side I know the progress that has been made in 44 years. So with that in mind I have got on with everyday things as well as playing hard darts (anything to take my mind off of this) until the “deadline” arrives which is also a dart night!
Maybe fear or excitement have been arguing with each other inside me as an air of the “what ifs” rears its ugly head but one must be positive (if possible in my case).
Oh well got to have a joke about it as in reality I know that good will come out of it and even before going to see the specialist I am confident of getting 80-90% of my hand working again. Who knows, I may become Darts first “Bionic Dart player”!
Man if that happens, I wonder how much Ill be in demand ha ha ha ha… look out Edward I may surprise you and be good enough to be part of Unicorn players group. Or perhaps a “Handicap Players Team” may start-up? Anything is possible, so it’s a wait and see moment for me.
I will keep the uniBlog updated about the upcoming visit (even if my wife has to type for me).
